What it involves

Family arraigo (arraigo familiar) is a residence permit for foreign nationals who have a direct family tie to a Spanish citizen, for example as the father or mother of a Spanish child. Depending on your situation, it may also apply to people who support a Spanish citizen with a disability. It allows you to live and work legally in Spain.

Is this your case?

  • Your child was born in Spain and has Spanish nationality, but you don't have papers.
  • You are separated from the mother or father of your Spanish child and want to regularise your situation.
  • You care for a Spanish family member with a disability and need a permit to stay.
  • You have been told your case is one of family arraigo, but you don't know what documents to gather.

How we help

We analyse your family tie and explain whether family arraigo is your route or whether another one fits better. We help you gather the evidence of the relationship (family book, padrón registration, the child's documents) and present it in an orderly way. We submit the application, respond to any requests from the authorities and, if there is a refusal, we look at an appeal with you. We can help you in Spanish, Arabic, Tamazight, French and English, at our offices in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Málaga and Barcelona or online, wherever you are in Spain.

If your partner is Spanish, residence for family members of Spanish citizens may suit you; we also handle Spanish nationality applications.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between family arraigo and residence as a family member of a Spanish citizen?
Both routes are based on a tie to a Spanish citizen, but each one is designed for different situations. We review your case to choose the one that fits and avoid wasting time on the wrong application.
I am the father of a Spanish child but I don't live with the mother. Can I apply?
It may be possible. Your relationship with the child and whether you meet your responsibilities as a parent are usually taken into account. Gather whatever shows that bond and we will study it with you.
Does family arraigo allow me to work?
Generally, yes: it is a residence permit that allows you to work as an employee or as self-employed. We confirm the exact conditions according to your situation.
