Certificates
Sometimes a procedure gets stuck because of a simple certificate. We help you find out which one you need and get it without wasting time.
What it involves
Immigration certificates are official documents that certify details of your situation in Spain. For example, the residence certificate shows your status as a resident, and the concordance certificate (certificado de concordancia) proves that two numbers or documents belong to the same person. They are requested by banks, notaries, other public bodies or the authorities of your country.
Is this your case?
- You have two different NIE numbers or your passport has changed and your papers don't match.
- A bank or notary asks you to prove that you are resident, or that you are not.
- The authorities of your country ask you for a document about your situation in Spain.
- You have been asked for a certificate and don't know which one it is or where to apply for it.
How we help
First we clarify which certificate you are really being asked for and why, because the names are often confused. Then we prepare the application, arrange the appointment or submission and check that the certificate you receive has the correct details. If there are errors, we ask for them to be corrected. We can help you in Spanish, Arabic, Tamazight, French and English, at our offices in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Málaga and Barcelona or online, wherever you are in Spain.
If you don't have a foreigner's number yet, we help you with the NIE; and if the certificate is for your Spanish nationality file, we review the whole procedure with you.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the concordance certificate for?
- It proves that two different documents or numbers belong to the same person, for example when you were given a new NIE or your passport changed. It avoids problems with banks, the Tax Agency (Hacienda) or Social Security.
- What do I do if my name or number is wrong on my papers?
- Don't let it slide, because it can block other procedures later on. We look at where the error comes from and request the correction or the certificate that clarifies it.
- Do I need a residence certificate to buy a home or open an account?
- Sometimes, yes: banks and notaries may ask you to prove whether or not you are resident. We tell you which document works in your case and help you get it.
